Denmark and the Crusading Movement was originally a reseach project supported by the Danish Research Council for the Humanities and based at the University of Southern Denmark. It was started out by Kurt Villads Jensen, John H. Lind and Carsten Selch Jensen who got funds to run a three-year project, beginning August 1998. In February 1999 Ane Bysted started on a Ph.D. fellowship also at the University of Southern Denmark and was attached to the project. While it was running, a number of other scholars from different universities have been involved at different stages, and many good relations were formed.
In order to maintain the contacts and relations which have been established during the project and in order to encourage further studies on the Crusading Movement among Danish and Scandinavian scholars, we have formed the Scandinavian Network for Crusade Studies, based at this website. If you wish to take part in the discussion, please feel free to mail us.
